Lindisfarne Apple Cobbler
(This batter-based baked dessert will disappear like a rabbit in hunting season!)
It is based on a recipe from 1785
Serves 4

Ingredients:
* 1/2 stick of butter (or a little more...)
* 1 cup flour
* 1 cup sugar (brown works very well)
* 2 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/2 cup water
* 1/4 cup Lindisfarne Mede (adjust with water to taste)
* 2 cups freshly sliced apples

Preparation:
Melt butter in a 9*9 inch pan. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, water and Lindisfarne Mede in a bowl; whip until smooth. Chop apples into small pieces. Pour batter into pan; do not stir. Add the apples on top of the batter. Bake in a moderate oven (180C, 350F) for 25 minutes or till the top is slightly browned. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
